Full size headboards are the piece of a bed that is at the top end of a full sized bed, where you usually rest your head when sleeping. Most headboards are made from wood, as that is most commonly used for making bedroom furniture. You can also find headboards made from metal such as aluminum. These are very lightweight, and are usually not solid like the wood variety. They resemble the type of headboard that hospital beds have. Some people prefer this minimalist approach when it comes to bedroom décor, and if the rest of the furniture in the room complements this style, it can look very stunning. If your present headboard is freestanding that will not be a problem, but if it is attached to the bed, you will either have to buy a completely new bed or find a headboard that is attached in exactly the same manner as your present one.

You do not necessarily have to be an accomplished repairperson to do this, although it is helpful if you are at least a little talented or creative in this area. You can design your own pattern, buy the pre-cut plywood and upholstery foam from your local home improvement shop, and buy some heavy-duty material of your choice from your local material shop. The great thing about this option is that you can decide exactly what you want, and your choices are not dependent on what is available at the local furniture store.
